Design of the Week (07.18.08)

Design of the Week 07.18.08Congratulations to Jenny Ricci for being our first Design of the Week winner!

Jenny works for a non-profit agency called Horizon House that works to help mentally-disabled individuals.  Her design, which she created for her organization’s summer picnic, makes very creative use of the Design Studio’s clip art collection and text effects. Making the event’s title–Summer Jam–appear to be the mustard and ketchup on the hot dog was an excellent creative touch!

For her efforts, Jenny will be receiving a special coupon code for a discount on her next purchase from BlueCotton.com!

Keep checking the BlueCotton blog for future Design of the Week winners.  If you make creative use of the Design Studio’s many features, it just might be you!

Website Tip: Get Quick Price

Get Quick Price ButtonIf you’re a price-conscious individual, the first thing on your mind when shopping for a product is probably, “How much is this going to cost me?”  We here at BlueCotton respect this point-of-view and want you to have access to such information with very little effort.  I introduce to you an oft-overlooked feature of BlueCotton.com–the “Get Quick Price” button.

If you already know how many garments you plan to purchase, and how many colors will be used in your design, getting a quick estimate of your final cost is a trivial process.  When you find a garment you would like to customize, just click the “Get Quick Price” button located below the garment photo and description (pictured right).

Quick Price DialogDoing so will bring up the Quick Price form (pictured left).  In this window, simply enter the number of garments you plan to purchase as well as the number of colors that will be used on both the front and back of the garment.  After that, just click the “Get Price” button at the bottom of the form.

Now, as you browse our huge selection of screen-printable garments, your customized price-per-garment information–for both white and colored garments–will appear below.  Need to change change the quantity or the number of colors for your quote?  No problem!  Just click the “Change Quick Price” button below the quoted prices and modify the information in the form for new, updated prices!

Design Studio Tip: Distressed Effect

One of today’s most popular fashion trends, especially in screenprinted garments, is the worn “vintage” look.  Just walk into any popular apparel shop at your local shopping mall and you’ll see dozens of examples.  You may be wondering, “How can I make my very own custom tees have this very same look?”  Well, the BlueCotton Design Studio makes it extremely easy–in fact, you can do it in only one click!  Just activate the “Add Distressed Effect” button (seen below) when you’re designing your garment!

Add Distressed Effect Button

The “Add Distressed Effect” option can make any garment that you design look like you found it in a box of your uncle’s old clothes when you were cleaning out the attic.  Just look at the example below:

Moving On Up

What is the key ingredient to any successful screen-printing company? Waterfalls. No joke. You aren’t a legit company unless you’ve got two glass and stainless steel waterfalls mounted in your front lobby wall. At least that’s the philosophy that inspired our new workplace. Not only did we launch a distinctively different website and add 20 plus new faces to the staff but we also created a modern, spacious environment to accommodate all this awesomeness!

In Jan. 2007 the building process was put in motion; it started with drawings and constant rearranging of offices. By March we were ready to break ground. Seven months later, we were still waiting on the concrete guy to get started. Just kidding! In Sept. we began the arduous task of moving across the parking lot from the old building into the shiny new facility. Even though our current location is roughly twice the size of the former, we’ve managed to fill it up with new staff and equipment. [...]
