August 9 is National Book Lover\u2019s Day. It\u2019s an unofficial holiday meant to celebrate literature in all its forms, encourages people to put away their smartphones, turn off their computers, and pick up a book. These days, that message has never been more important.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Reading in the U.S. has reached an all-time low. According to a recent study by nonpartisan think tank Pew Research, around 28 percent of Americans read for pleasure on any given day<\/a>. Leisure reading, as the organization calls it, is declining amongst all <\/em>age groups.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n This year, let\u2019s see if we can change that.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Let\u2019s encourage people to read more. Let\u2019s celebrate the fact that books are the foundation of modern society. But for some reason, that\u2019s not socially acceptable.
