What is Moisture-Wicking Fabric?

Moisture-wicking fabric is specially designed to pull sweat and moisture away from the skin and spread it across the surface of the fabric so that it will evaporate quickly. This keeps the wearer cool and dry. Moisture-wicking fabric is often polyester, a poly-blend or made up of tech fabrics. 

Are moisture-wicking and Dri-FIT the same?

Many name brands incorporate their own proprietary version of moisture wicking into their garments. These include:

• Nike: Dri-FIT is Nike’s signature moisture-wicking technology. Their fabric combines moisture wicking with ventilation zones for a lightweight feel and a soft finish. You’ll find Nike polos, tees, shorts and more labeled Dri-FIT.
• Adidas: Adidas has several proprietary moisture-wicking fabrics, including AEROREADY and Climalite. The former is often paired with stretchy, eco-friendly materials while the latter is comfortably breathable and less performance-oriented.
• Under Armour: HeatGearⓇ from Under Armour is a high-performance poly blend fabric that wicks sweat and regulates temperature. It’s very quick drying and often has 4-way stretch and anti-odor properties.
• CoolmaxⓇ:: This engineered polyester is found in multiple brands and is known for breathability, long wear, and wrinkle resistance.
